Australia By Aussie aims to make editorial decisions independently and to serve readers with relevant, accurate and clearly presented information about Australia and the wider world.
Editorial decisions
Story selection, headlines, reporting and corrections should be guided by newsworthiness, evidence, relevance and the public interest. Advertisers, sponsors, sources and other outside parties should not be able to purchase favourable editorial treatment or dictate the conclusions of independent coverage.
Commercial relationships
Advertising and sponsored material should be distinguishable from editorial reporting. A commercial relationship is not, by itself, a reason to give an organisation positive or negative coverage. Where a material relationship could affect how readers understand a story, it should be disclosed when appropriate.
Accuracy and accountability
We aim to check information against reliable sources, make clear what is confirmed and what remains uncertain, and correct material errors when identified. Readers can raise concerns or provide evidence through our Contact Us page. Our Editorial Policy and Corrections Policy provide further information.
Conflicts of interest
Potential conflicts should be considered before publication and disclosed where they are material to a reader’s understanding. We aim to avoid allowing personal, financial or other interests to compromise editorial judgement.
This statement describes the standards Australia By Aussie aims to follow. It may be updated as our newsroom practices develop.
