Footage supplied to Australia By Aussie appears to capture part of the aftermath of a chaotic incident on Sydney’s Western Motorway involving two children.

The video shows a roadside scene on the Western Motorway, with signs for the Parramatta and Blue Mountains directions visible as people deal with the incident and traffic moves around the area.

The footage does not show the entire sequence of events and does not, by itself, establish how the incident began or the full circumstances surrounding the people and vehicles involved.

According to reporting on the incident, NSW Police were initially called to Belmore for a welfare check involving a 36-year-old man. Police allege the man failed to stop when directed, leading to a pursuit towards Auburn.

Police allege the pursuit was later terminated because of the manner of the man’s driving. They allege he subsequently travelled on the wrong side of the M4 Motorway and collided with an oncoming vehicle while two children were in the vehicle.

The man allegedly then attempted to take another vehicle. During the incident, a 25-year-old man who intervened suffered a stab wound to his hand.

Police allege the man later took a woman’s vehicle after she stopped to help and drove west along the M4 with the two children inside.

The vehicle was eventually stopped in the Wentworthville area, where the man was arrested with assistance from an off-duty police officer and members of the public.

The two children suffered minor injuries and were taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital as a precaution. The alleged offender was taken to hospital under police guard.

The available video should therefore be understood as footage of part of the aftermath rather than a complete recording of the alleged pursuit or carjacking.
