A 20-year-old man has been charged after an alleged targeted shooting at a home in Berkeley Vale on the NSW Central Coast, where a 37-year-old man was seriously injured.

Emergency services were called to Lakedge Avenue, near Kingsford Smith Road, about 6.15am on Wednesday, September 9, after reports of a shooting. NSW Police said officers found a 37-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his hand and torso. He was treated by paramedics before being airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.

Police launched Strike Force Vardeem to investigate the shooting. Investigators have described the incident as a targeted attack, while inquiries have focused on identifying the person responsible and establishing the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

On Thursday, September 10, Raptor Squad officers arrested a 20-year-old man at Gosford train station. Police allege cocaine and cannabis were found during a search of the man.

As the investigation continued, officers searched a home in Penrith and allegedly seized a Glock pistol, ammunition and other items relevant to the investigation, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The man was taken to Gosford Police Station and charged with attempted murder and a number of alleged firearm, break-and-enter, vehicle and drug offences. He is due to face court over the charges.

The shooting investigation remains ongoing. The charges are allegations and will be dealt with through the court process.
