Barnaby Joyce says the growing support for One Nation reflects a shift in Australian public opinion rather than a change within the party itself.
Speaking on Channel 7’s Sunrise, Joyce described polling showing Pauline Hanson’s party becoming the country’s most popular political force as an “incredible honour”. However, he cautioned against treating polling data as an election result.
Joyce argued that Australian voters have changed over time and said the trend was real rather than a temporary anomaly. He described the polling as an indicator of broader changes in public sentiment.
Appearing alongside Tanya Plibersek, Joyce also said that if One Nation formed government, he would abolish Labor’s climate change department and remove most of the current federal budget.
