Twenty-five people charged after protesting against the visit of Israeli President Isaac Herzog will face a joint trial in Sydney after a successful legal application brought their cases together.
The protesters appeared before Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday, where lawyers argued that the matters involved common legal issues and should be heard together.
The application was granted, paving the way for a combined court process involving all 25 defendants.
Acting Deputy Registrar Soly Najm scheduled a week-long pre-trial hearing to begin on 8 March 2027.
A six-week joint trial is set to commence on 19 July 2027.
Felicity Graham, one of nine lawyers representing the protesters, told the court she expected NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon to be the first witness called during proceedings.
The charges stem from demonstrations held during the visit of Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
The court hearing focused on procedural arrangements ahead of the trial, with the key development being the approval of a joint hearing due to shared legal questions across the cases.
