Pauline Hanson has put Labor “on notice” as former Liberal senator Cory Bernardi joins One Nation ahead of the next South Australian Senate contest.
One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has issued a warning to Labor, declaring her party is coming for seats in South Australia following the recruitment of former Liberal senator Cory Bernardi.
Speaking at a press conference in Adelaide, Hanson said Bernardi would run for One Nation in South Australia at the upcoming Senate election.
Hanson said housing pressures, migration and the cost of living were driving voters towards One Nation, arguing the party would give South Australians “hope”.
“I’m warning Labor now, you’re on notice,” Hanson said.
“We are coming for your seats, and we are actually going to represent the people of this state.”
Claims linking housing pressure to migration levels have been disputed by official population and housing data.
Bernardi praised Hanson during the event, describing her as one of the “most resilient and prescient political figures of our time”.
Bernardi, a former Liberal senator who later became a conservative media commentator, formally announced his return to frontline politics alongside Hanson.
