Students for Palestine says no amount of pressure will stop planned protests against Israeli president Isaac Herzog during his visit to Australia.
The student group rejected calls for restraint following comments by foreign minister Penny Wong, who urged Australians to consider the context of Herzog’s visit.
Wong said the visit should be viewed in light of support for the Jewish community after the Bondi terror attack.
Students for Palestine said the context was broader, pointing to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.
National convener Jasmine Duff said the group would take part in marches across 26 cities and towns on Monday evening.
She said the demonstrations would proceed regardless of political criticism or public pressure.
The statement signals a fresh flashpoint ahead of Herzog’s visit, with competing narratives now colliding publicly.
