PM sidesteps anti-racism framework question

Anthony Albanese avoided answering when the government will implement a national anti-racism framework during Question Time.

Independent MP Nicolette Boele asked when the government would implement the Australian Human Rights Commission’s anti-racism framework.

The framework was commissioned by the federal government and delivered to Labor in November 2024.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese did not directly answer whether the framework would be implemented.

Instead, Albanese said combating antisemitism required “constant vigilance” and argued the government needed a broader focus on social cohesion.

He pointed to the alleged attempted bombing at the Perth Invasion Day rally as an example of the challenges authorities were dealing with.

Boele rose on a point of order, arguing the response was not relevant to the question, but the prime minister’s time to answer had expired.
