Chris Bowen has defended Labor’s energy record after being pressed on the abandoned $275 power bill reduction.
Nationals MP Sam Birrell asked when Australians would receive the $275 cut to energy bills promised by Labor in 2022.
Climate change and energy minister Chris Bowen did not recommit to the pledge.
Instead, Bowen said wholesale electricity prices were falling, citing a 44% drop in the final quarter of last year.
He said more work was needed to ensure those reductions flowed through to household power bills.
The exchange came late in a prolonged Question Time dominated by cost-of-living pressures.
