Allan apologises after Metro Tunnel delays

Victorian premier Jacinta Allan has apologised to commuters after major disruptions hit Metro Tunnel services on their second day at full capacity.

Victorian premier Jacinta Allan has issued an apology following widespread delays across train lines running through the new Metro Tunnel.

During Tuesday’s evening peak, Metro Trains Melbourne suspended services on the Sunbury line and recorded major delays on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines.

The disruptions were caused by a fault in overhead power wires near Armadale, affecting both lines that operate through the tunnel.

Allan said passengers had endured a “really difficult experience” and confirmed investigations were continuing into the cause of the fault.

The Metro Tunnel only began operating at full capacity on Monday, with the delays raising concerns about reliability during peak periods.
