Question time erupted into a heated clash over inflation as the opposition pressed the government after the latest interest rate rise.
Opposition deputy leader Sussan Ley questioned whether the government still believed inflation was under control following Tuesday’s rate rise, the 13th since Labor was elected.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese acknowledged households were under pressure but defended the government’s budget position.
Albanese then turned his fire on the opposition, prompting shadow energy minister Dan Tehan to raise a point of order.
Speaker Milton Dick dismissed the objection, saying Tehan had failed to accurately recall Ley’s question.
Albanese continued his attack, accusing the opposition of being consumed by internal divisions and leadership turmoil.
