‘Get it together’: Joyce lectures Coalition as question time stoush deepens

Former Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce has delivered an unexpected spray to his former colleagues, urging the Coalition to reunite amid a bitter parliamentary fight over question time.

Joyce, now sitting with One Nation, weighed in during debate on the government’s motion to change the allocation of questions in the House.

His intervention drew laughter and disbelief across the chamber.

“It is probably not the best thing for the Australian people, it’s a little bit of an indictment,” Joyce said.

“I ask the Coalition, just get it together … and get us back to a normal day.”

The remarks come as Labor presses ahead with changes that would reduce opposition questions while boosting the crossbench, inflaming tensions between Liberals and Nationals.

The Coalition split remains unresolved, with negotiations continuing behind closed doors.
