Bragg warns Liberals risk soap-opera politics

Liberal frontbencher Andrew Bragg has warned the opposition risks damaging its credibility if it appears focused on internal drama rather than policy.

Speaking amid speculation over leadership tensions within the Liberal Party, Bragg said voters would judge the party harshly if it resembled a television drama instead of a serious policy-focused organisation.

Asked whether Sussan Ley remained the right leader, Bragg initially avoided a direct answer before confirming his support, saying the Liberals were a “serious party”.

Bragg and Ley also announced a new deregulation agenda on Thursday morning, aimed at cutting red tape for businesses.

Bragg said the plan would reduce the number of regulations and laws, allowing businesses to focus on growth and employment rather than administrative requirements from Canberra.
