A powerful cold front is moving across Western Australia, bringing heavy rainfall, strong winds and cooler temperatures to southern parts of the state.
The weather system delivered significant rainfall across the south-west between 9am Monday and 8am Tuesday. The highest recorded totals included 68mm at Dingo Road near Harvey, 54mm at Sandy Road, 53mm at Samson Brook Dam and 49mm at Mandalay.
The Bureau of Meteorology reported damaging wind gusts accompanying the front, reaching up to 106km/h at Cape Leeuwin and 83km/h at Busselton.
According to the bureau, the leading edge of the front was moving east into the interior of Western Australia on Tuesday morning.
Meteorologists said a pool of cold air following the front would maintain showers and cool winds across much of southern Western Australia throughout the day.
The Bureau of Meteorology also warned that small hail could develop in coastal areas as the colder conditions move through the region.
